30 Days Journal - Day 30

I am a terrible journal-er. As an exercise to become better, I decided to do a 30 day journal challenge for myself. Just like during my quarantine, I am using Isolation Journals for daily journal prompt.

Prompt: Choose a sound (maybe a sound that you love, or that you hear all the time, or that you heard once and will never forget). What is the color and shape of that sound? How does the sound smell, taste, feel on your skin?

Rain drops hitting the window panel. What I mean is the mild rain drops, not the catastrophic ones during hurricane season or the ones in South East Asia that occur daily in a winter afternoon. Just drizzling rain drops that drops for a few hours that washes the concrete jungle that I live in. The love for the sound is extremely conditional - only when I am warm inside. Not at all when I am walking, moving, biking, or running (all based on experience). Surprise sun showers are okay, as long as it is brief.

The sound is absolutely calming and the roads become so peaceful. Everyone goes indoor and the roads become clear. The animals goes into hiding (this is a shout-out to the birds that chirps at 7 am when I try to sleep in). The concrete jungle is finally quiet, as quiet as it can get. In some ways it becomes much more cleaner. This sound reminds me of time I should spend on reflecting. The colour of the sound is clear with light grey undertone. The shape of the sound is a pin drop but highly malleable (water!). The smell is fresh with a little of musky. I do not recommend tasting it, especially if you live in the city. However, I imagine it taste pure and fresh if I was in a castaway situation. Lastly the feeling, I don’t like being wet and cold but the last time I was stuck in a rain storm was in Singapore - and when the weather is warm - it rain drops do not feel bad. It was like having a lukewarm shower with your clothing on.

This 30 day journal took me almost 3 months to complete, with a month gap in between just shows you how terrible of a journaler I am. I will try to do better next time.
